'There is
nothing you can do in class for a student with
dyslexia that won’t benefit all students
All
children & young people have the right to a diverse
& inclusive education, which nurtures their
strengths, recognises their weaknesses & allows
them to reach their potential. Indentifying and understanding
dyslexia and other SpLDs, can make it a reality.
Dyslexia is the most common &
prevalent of all learning difficulties & it is
likely that a student with a Specific
learning Disorder (SpLD) will have other SpLDs i.e.
dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia or a
developmental disability such as ADHD. Experts
agree that there is nothing you
can do for a child with dyslexia that won’t raise the
potential of all students. This is something I
totally subscribe to & have accounted for within
the manual. There are comprehensive strategies &
ideas for creating an ‘Inclusive Classroom.’ Using the information provided, you will quickly & easily acquire the knowledge & skills you need to effectively understand, identify, assess, teach & support individuals struggling with dyslexia & other LDs in Literacy. Screening and assessment tools and programs for intervention are listed. Class, group and individual teaching advice is provided.
Major research indicates ‘5
Big Essential Elements’ are needed to teach reading
to all students, delivered in a structured
sequential sequence using evidence-based research
programs. This method is absolutely
the best option for students with literacy based
SpLDs & explanations of each element, strategies,
activities,
accommodations, resource links & examples of
planning are included.
Dyslexia is a Learning
Difference (and
these children
have to learn
differently) it only becomes a disability if this
doesn’t happen $35-00 Each |

Many of us can relate to having a favourite recipe book.
Dog eared, jam smeared and seems to fall open at the exact
page of your very best, most referred to recipe. Karen has
managed to create this for teachers!
The practicality of this manual will assist beginning
teachers through to the most experienced with daily ideas
to use. Suggestions and recommendations contained within
are aligned with current best practice. Although, slightly
less delicious than the items made from a recipe book, the
outcomes will be none-the-less equally as satisfying.
